Malawi Practical Information


Any traveller wishing to visit Malawi needs a passport valid for 6 months after the scheduled return date.
Depending on your country of origin, an entry visa for the territory may be compulsory, in particular for French, Belgian and Swiss nationals.

No compulsory vaccination.

Note:A Yellow Fever vaccination is required from those coming from countries with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. The international vaccination certificate can be requested upon arrival at the airport.

Following the global pandemic, Covid measures and tests can be applied from your country of origin and in your country of destination. Please consult your Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Health.

Driving License

Local and international driving licenses are required.

Malawi Standard Time is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). Malawi is in the Central Africa Time Zone (CAT).

Trades for the local currency can be made at the ATMs and bureaux de change at the airports.
